My favorite place in Zambia...

This is the bridge that connects Central Province to Luapula. It is the longest bridge in sub-Saharan Africa reaching over two kilometers to stretch across the Luapula floodplains. The floodplains are different every time you pass over them, but one things stays the same: you are in the middle of nowhere.

  1. Absolutely beautiful, though I think I missed some of the majesty of the scenery as I had just decided it was a good idea for me to drive (on the other side of the road, for the first time) as we neared this bridge!

  3. Frank, this is the beginning of the bridge. When the Japanese built it they made a ramp with some stairs at the beginning and that's where I'm standing.
